News & Dates

NEWS:

• WHAT NEXT?
The Unusual Suspects are in the process of sorting out some dates for a short tour in summer 2010. There are no firm plans for any performances before then, but... never say never!
In the meantime, the band are preparing to record a new album, which will also be available in 2010. Watch this space for more details!

• LUXEMBOURG:
We'd like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone at the Philharmonie, Luxembourg for looking after us so well! This is possibly the finest sounding concert hall we've ever had the pleasure of performing in, and the capacity 1500-strong (and wildly enthusiastic!) audience made it a very special night indeed. We hope to come back some day soon.

• CELTIC CONNECTIONS
The Unusual Suspects celebrated their 5th Anniversary on January 22nd 2008 by returning to the scene of the crime! Five years previously, almost to the day, the band made their debut performance on the same stage, Glasgow's prestigious Royal Concert Hall. To see the band's line up for this concert click HERE

• THANKS!
Thank you to everyone who came to our gigs in Gateshead & Edinburgh - we had a fantastic time! Click HERE to read a review of the Edinburgh concert.

Also, a big thank you to Suspects' manager David Williams who is now moving on to new ventures - cheers for everything David and good luck!

Lorient: The Unusual Suspects have just returned from a superb week representing Scotland at this year's Lorient Interceltique Festival in Brittany . The festival this year focussed on Scotland and, with support from The Scottish Executive & S.A.C, the band played two sell-out concerts, as well as a whole week's worth of concerts in smaller groups at the Scottish Pavillion. Some photographs by amazing photographer Lieve Boussauw will be up on the site soon. Check out a video clip from the band's second Lorient performance at the Espace Marine on the home page.

Fresh Faces: We've had some fantastic new players join us for the last few gigs - Olivia Ross on fiddle, Anna Massie on guitar and Alyn Cosker on Drums to name a few, and we were also delighted to welcome Alistair White of the Battlefield Band for our performances in Lorient.
It's amazing how one player can change the sound of the band, but all of the musicians involved have their own sound and approach to playing, so it inevitably means the music grows as the musicians change.

New CD!: We're starting to plan a new recording - no promises for a release date, but we'll keep you posted.
